1919: In the longest game in Stanley Cup Finals history, the Montreal Canadiens and Seattle Metropolitans played 100 minutes of overtime without scoring a goal. The goalies were Georges Vezina and Harry Holmes. It was the first 0-0 tie in NHL playoff history.
1924: The Canadiens trade Billy Boucher to the Vancouver Millionaires (PCHL) for Charlie Cotch, and send Billy Cameron to Vancouver for cash.
1931: Sylvio Mantha scored the lone goal & George Hainsworth got his 5th career playoff shutout in a 1-0 win over the Boston Bruins, in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals.
1946: Toe Blake scored three power play goals to lead the Canadiens to a 7-2 win over the Chicago Black Hawks, in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals. The victory gave the Canadiens a four-game sweep, and advanced them to the Finals.
1950: Montreal set an NHL record with their 19th tie of the season, and Maurice Richard scored a goal to become the 4th NHL player to get 250 career goals in a 3-3 tie with Boston.
1959: Dickie Moore scored a goal and added three assists as the Canadiens won 5-1 over the Black Hawks, in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals.
1960: Moore scored twice and added an assist and Doug Harvey got the winning goal at 8:38 of overtime to lead the Canadiens to a 4-3 win over Chicago, in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals.
1961: In one of the greatest goaltending duels in playoff history, the Canadiens fall short in a 1-0 triple-overtime decision to the Black Hawks. Glenn Hall made 53 saves for Chicago, while Jacques Plante made 43 for Montreal, in Game Three of the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals.
1964: Montreal won 2-0 over the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals. There were 31 penalties, a new Stanley Cup single game record, breaking the old mark of 29 set by Toronto & Detroit on March 25, 1952.
1977: Ken Dryden recorded his 35th career shutout as the Canadiens extended their NHL-record home undefeated streak to 32 straight games (27-0-5) with a 4-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
1981: Pierre Larouche scored his 9th career hat trick and added an assist, and Mark Napier had a goal and three assists as the Canadiens extended their home unbeaten streak to 24 games (22-0-2) with an win 8-2 against the Calgary Flames.
