1931: George Hainsworth recorded his 63rd career shutout (to tie Alex Connell for the all-time NHL lead) as Montreal won 4-0 over the visiting Detroit Falcons.

 

 

1936: Aurel Joliat became the third player in NHL history to score 250 career goals, in the Canadiens' 4-3 win over the visiting Boston Bruins.

 

 

1943: The Boston Bruins snapped Montreal rookie goalie Bill Durnan's NHL-record 14-game unbeaten streak, with a 5-4 win over the Canadiens. It was Durnan's first career loss after a 12-0-2 start.

 

1968: Rookie goaltender Tony Esposito made his first NHL start, and gave up two goals to brother Phil, in a 2-2 tie between the Canadiens and the Bruins, in Boston Garden.

 

 

1974: The Canadiens sent Claude Larose to St. the Louis Blues in a cash deal.

 

 

1984:  Mario Tremblay picked up an assist for his 500th career NHL point, in a 5-3 Canadiens' loss to the Hartford Whalers.
