1923: Montreal Canadiens signed Sylvio Mantha.

 

 

1927: George Hainsworth recorded his 16th career shutout and Howie Morenz scored his second career hat trick in the Canadiens' 4-0 win against the visiting New York Americans.

 

 

1934: The Canadiens traded Jack Portland to the Boston Bruins, in exchange for Tony Savage and $7,500.

 

 

1936: The Canadiens trade Paul Runge to the Montreal Maroons for Bill MacKenzie.

 

 

1960: Bernie Geoffrion scored twice in the Canadiens' 3-1 win against Boston, in Montreal.

 

1970: Claude Ruel resigned as coach of the Montreal Canadiens and was replaced by Al MacNeil, who went on to lead the team to the Stanley Cup Championship five months later.

 

 

1980: Mark Napier scored four goals (including his first career hat trick) and Steve Shutt picked up four assists as the Canadiens won 6-5 at Buffalo.

 

 

1984: Mats Naslund scored four goals (including his second career hat trick) and added two assists to lead the Canadiens to a 9-3 win against the visiting Hartford Whalers.
