1952: Canadiens purchased 1943 Calder winner Gaye Stewart from the NY Rangers for $7,500.

 

 

1956: Jean Beliveau scored a goal and added four assists, and goaltender Jacques Plante recorded his 22nd career shutout, as the Canadiens beat the Black Hawks 7-0, at the Forum.

 

 

1997: The Canadiens became the first team in history to play 5,000 NHL games, when they took on the Pittsburgh Penguins, in a 1-0 loss, in Montreal. The loss gave the Canadiens a record of 2,625 wins, 1,603 losses and 772 ties since 1917.

 

2009: The Canadiens trade Kyle Chipchura to the Anaheim Ducks for a 4th round pick (Magnus Nygren) in 2011.
