1943: Rookie goalie Bill Durnan improved his career record to 8-0-1, with a 7-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Durnan would set an NHL record for rookie goalies by going 12-0-2 in his first 14 games. Buddy O'Connor had a goal and 4 assists in the win.
1965: Bobby Rousseau scored his second career hat trick and two assists, Jean Beliveau had a goal and four assists, and Ralph Backstrom got his second career hat trick as the Canadiens won 9-3 against the New York Rangers.
1989: Bobby Smith became the 28th player in NHL history to record 600 regular season assists. The assist came on a goal by Mike Keane in the first period of a 3-2 Montreal win over the defending Stanley Cup Champion Calgary Flames.
1995: Larry Robinson is inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
2000: The Canadiens fired GM Rejean Houle and Head Coach Alain Vigneault and replaced them with Andre Savard (as the new GM) and Michel Therrien as the new Head Coach (the 25th in team history).
