1926: The Montreal Canadiens made the Forum their permanent home rink, but lost to the Ottawa Senators 2-1 in their first home game.

 

 

1972: Yvan Cournoyer became the 9th player in franchise history to score 250 goals as a member of the Canadiens. The milestone came in a 5-3 loss to the Chicago Black Hawks.

 

 

1986: The Canadiens trade defenseman Tom Kurvers to the Buffalo Sabres for a 2nd round pick in 1988.

 

2002: Saku Koivu scored his first career hat trick, including 2 power-play goals and one shorthanded goal, and added an assist as Montreal won 5-4 over the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.

 

 

2006: The Canadiens retire Serge Savard’s No. 18 sweater.
