1927: The Canadiens became the first team in NHL history to shut out the same opponent four straight times, when George Hainsworth recorded the 13th shutout of his rookie season in a 5-0 win over the visiting Montreal Maroons.
1944: Ray Getleffe scored two goals and two assists as Montreal beat the New York Rangers 6-1 to finish the 1943-44 regular season 25 points ahead of second-place Detroit, a new NHL record. Rookie goalie Bill Durnan tied an NHL record with his 38th win of the year.
1952: Gerry McNeil recorded his fifth shutout of the season (and the 12th of his career) in the Canadiens' 3-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
1961: Jean Beliveau scored a goal for his 600th career NHL point, as the Canadiens won 2-0 over the Detroit Red Wings. The goal gave Beliveau 90 points, including an NHL record 58 assists, for the season. Jacques Plante got his 49th career shutout. The victory, on the last game of the season, allowed the Habs to finish first overall in the NHL standings for the fourth consecutive year.
1966: Beliveau picked up two assists during Canadiens' 6-2 win over the Rangerrs, to give him 900 career NHL points in 804 regular season games.
1967: Henri Richard scored the 5th (and final) hat trick of his NHL career, and added an assist as the Canadiens tied the Chicago Black Hawks 4-4.
1986: Larry Robinson became the fourth player in Montreal Canadiens' history to reach the 1,000 game mark in his NHL career in a 6-4 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.
1988: Patrick Roy picked up his 5th career shutout in the Canadiens' 3-0 win against the Chicago.
2002: The Habs traded future considerations to the Los Angeles Kings for Stephane Fiset.
