1974: The Canadiens acquire Mike Baumgartner from the Atlanta Flames, in a cash deal. Montreal also sent Rick Wilson and a 5th round pick (Don Wheldon) in 1974 to the St. Louis Blues for a 4th round pick (Barry Legge) in 1974 and future considerations (Glen Sather, later acquired on June 14, 1974).
Baumgatner would be dealt, later that summer, to the Kansas City Scouts. Legge opted to play in the WHA, when he was drafted by the Michigan Stags. Sather played one season in Montreal, before being traded to the Minnesota North Stars and aterl becoming a noted coach and GM.
