1924: The Montreal Forum had its official opening, and the Canadiens beat the Toronto St. Patricks 7-1, before a crowd of 9,000 fans. Billy Boucher had three goals, including the first ever on Forum ice, to lead the scoring.
1930: George Hainsworth became just the second goaltender in team history to win 100 career games, as the Canadiens won 3-2 over the visiting Boston Bruins.
1939: The Canadiens trade George Brown to the Boston Bruins in a cash deal.
1958: Jean Beliveau scored his 6th career hat trick, in a 6-2 Canadiens' win against the Detroit Red Wings.
1968: Rookie goalie Tony Esposito made his first NHL appearance, coming in to relieve Rogie Vachon, in a 5-4 loss to the Golden Seals, at Oakland. Jean Beliveau scored two goals and two assists for the Canadiens.
1977: The Canadiens trade Pete Mahovlich and Peter Lee to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Pierre Larouche and future considerations (rights to Peter Marsh).
1981: Mario Tremblay scored a goal and added four assists, Doug Risebrough got his second career hat trick and Pierre Mondou had a goal and three assists in the Canadiens 6-3 win against the Hartford Whalers.
1991: Kirk Muller scored a natural hat trick in the third period to give him 200 goals in his NHL career, as the Canadiens lost 5-4 in overtime, at Boston. It was Muller's 5th career hat trick and his first with Montreal.
